We recently learned about a maker of manly blankets that has been around for over 150 years right here in America and were surprised that we hadn't heard of them. Based near the Iowa River in Amana, Iowa, the woolen mill bearing that towns name has been quietly making handsome Blankets, Throws, and scarves since 1857. Founded by immigrants from Germany, the town was set-up as a self-sufficient community and the mill served to provide yarns and finished goods to area settlers.

Fast forward a century-and-a-half and Amana Woolen Mill has continued to make premium, handsome wool and cotton goods for local Iowans. Until only recently, you would have to travel directly to their showroom to pick up one of these heirlooms.

Introducing Amana at The Lodge- we will be offering here their Wool and Cotton throws in limited quantities.

Check out Amana's new arrivals here.

Visited the Amana Colonies a few years ago and enjoyed the wonderful food and hand-crafted items that were for sale. I bought a lovely hand made small laundry basket which I display on the wall and use often.
